Thy Will be done

"Thy Will be done ", These words have become so real to me.

For the first 20+ years of my life, I never really gave my life any serious thought ( the irresponsibility of ignorance), I lived with such careless abandon, stumbled through bad decisions and failed attempts at figuring out what my life was all about, I walked through days  unsure of what I was going to do with my life most of the time.

I sensed that I had something of value, however I was unsure of what it was and how to access it. I remember crying profusely wondering why things were not lining up for me the way I "thought" they should.
I was alive but was not living. I fell into the routine of life as expected - go to school, get a degree, get a job, settle down, grow old, die. But somewhere in this lineup I knew there were some items missing ,which was "become who God created you to be","impact lives", "be great".

The Promise and the Threat

This came to me while I was contemplating a situation in my life where I was struggling to understand why I sometimes 'worry' over things I have surrendered to God. This is where a lot of us fall and stay down for a long time, unless we become enlightened inside of us to pick ourselves up by our believe and in the God we have placed our trust in.

Because of the way the world is and how we have seen/heard about how people treat each other, the wickedness we see and hear or even experienced, have led us to be quick in our respond to a threat than a promise. This is not because we do not 'know' that God is always willing to rescue us when we call on him, but because we have failed to separate the size of the problem, who is responsible for it and the ability of God.

The human nature is "naturally" wicked and full of revenge and spite thereby offering a fertile ground for unbelief, doubt, fear and worry. because when you have been bad towards someone else its only natural to expect the same. So we are constantly battling the notion of "to be kind or not be kind", "to forgive or not to forgive", to love or not to love".

The Power of SPOKEN words

A lot of people walk around defeated. Defeated in their thinking, knowing and understanding of what to do, who they are and who they have become.

Life is a series of challenges designed to test our tenacity, and willingness to confront and overcome them so that we may be molded into a people suitable to be presented as worthy of the reward that awaits those that are victorious.

I was once a victim of  the question "why me?" and very often slide in and out of it. I never understood why things were not working for me, why I was encountering one challenge after the other and for the most part losing in almost all of the battles. or at least not feeling victorious.

We must recognize that the enemy only fights those that have great potential to do irreparable damage to his miserable kingdom, so he will fight you tooth and nail to prevent you from reaching a full awareness of your self and who you are in Christ. The attack is greatest when you are losing something/someone that was bound by the enemy.

Overcoming the fight in your HEAD

This post may not resonate with everyone, though I pray it speaks to as many people that read it. I understand that we all have different understandings and believe systems. But! I believe this cuts across all that as this is a common denominator in our lives.
This post may be 'deep' for some, and enlightening for others if you fall in the bracket of the former, it is my prayer that God will give you understanding in your heart as you read.

We are under ATTACK. No matter how blessed and successful we are, we are being attacked or about to be attacked. We are in a HEAD fight with the devil, We must attack him with what we "KNOW" . Your head will lead you where your heart will not take you. Your head is the center of your existence, how you relate to people around you and things in your life, so it is very important to protect your head.

The enemy is fighting you over the control of your mind (life), Everything that he does, every form of attack is a battle for control. When the enemy gets ready to attack you, he is going to go after your HEAD, When the brain is dead, the heart cannot help you. But the brain can save the heart. (Put on the helmet of Salvation).

Overcoming Fear

                                 Image result

I am going to be honest and say that I've had moments when I was so afraid and completely worried and unsure of where my life was headed and how I was going to survive. Fear was slowly becoming part of the worry sequence I had unconsciously allowed into my life.

The thing with fear is that, it stems from the logical part of our human reasoning. You know when things are out of your control and you are at the mercy of the possibility of the situation getting worse and you have no clue how you will survive. We are designed to survive, this means we are equipped with the ability to find ways to solve problems that are tugging at our joy and peace, and when we are unable to do this (naturally), the enemy takes advantage of our ignorance (lack of spiritual knowledge) and triggers fear and it all goes down from there if not intercepted by the word of God.

I remember being stuck with thinking about all the things that could go wrong during a very difficult time in my life, and how things may go wrong in the most worst way possible, I need not say that my anxiety level skyrocketed further fueling the fear that was slowly taking root in my life. I knew the word of God, I was aware of some of His promises and for the most part I thought I believed in Him,

You see, we can be Christians, regular church goers, even workers in the church and still do not really know or understand the God that we so often proclaim and all the things He can and has done.

I remember vividly on one occasion during a very challenging and turbulent time in my life, I knew there was something wrong, I prayed, I sang songs of praise and worship and even fasted. All this I did because these are the things you are 'Supposed' to do when you are faced with tough situations as a Christian. Little did I know that God already had everything sorted out and was just waiting for me to believe in Him, I remember crying to God and telling Him that I was so confused and didn't know what else to do, I will never forget the response I got " You say you have faith, yet you don't believe".

The principles of TIME

Many times we believe that when things go wrong and has probably gone pass the timing for the possibility of restoration and intervention that it means it could no longer be salvaged or rescued. This may be ill health, broken relationships, missed opportunities etc.
This could not be further away from the truth, because timing is one thing that I believe is divine and can be re-arranged for our benefit once we know how to apply the principles of time.

Time is a beautiful thing, because it keeps records, creates multiple chances, inspires hope and presents opportunities. So it allows you to look back, re-live moments, try again and have expectations. I love it!

Let me bring this closer to home. You may be faced with a problem or challenge that you were not prepared for or have never experienced therefore unable to respond adequately to or know the details of how to deal with it. This may leave you lost and confused for a while. Do not fret, you are only doing what you know how to do given your knowledge of the situation and your understanding of the circumstances surrounding the situation. For some, this may be as serious as a legal case, terminal illness or as fragile as a broken relationship/marriage. Every problem has an expiration date, sooner or later everything will work out. some may end as expected, others may end with a lesson, either way, we leave equipped with new knowledge and better prepared to survive/overcome.

Life takes us on a journey of discoveries and lessons all categorized within different times and stages in our life. I have come to understand that our life is doing what it is supposed to do whether we are ready for it or not and time is there to make sure of it. Nothing that happens to us is without redemption and opportunities to resolve and live better afterwards.

The challenge to be "Grounded"

It takes some people longer than others to figure out what they are supposed to be doing with their life.

I know I write a lot about knowing who you are and what you were created to be. I believe this is very important as it is the root  for our existence. Once we discover why we are here and what we are supposed to be doing, every thing naturally flows on from there. So do not be overwhelmed by this, It is my hope that someone is blessed by one of my posts.

I am going to dive right in. I know a lot of people struggle with finding out who they truly are and what they are supposed to be doing with their life. So they jump from one thing to the other, leaving trails of unfinished projects, quitting before the business has time to grow, stranded ideas that began as a "great" idea and they end up thoroughly confused and frustrated. Which will often lead them back to repeat the cycle of Fresh start - excited about something new -New idea- Questions and frustration - Tired and frustrated - Depressed - Strong again then (repeat cycle).
How do i know? I found myself in this cycle. It has taken me years, tears and fears to come to where I am right now. I do not assume that I have figured it all out, but I know I am no more going through that cycle.

Destiny steps

Where you are now is where you're supposed to be.

As strange as that may sound depending on what you may be going through right now, It is true. You may ask how I know and why I am so sure. I have read the stories of so many people and I have experienced it for my self that every thing happens for a reason.

We may call it mistakes or bad luck, but I call it destiny steps. I have noticed that everything that has ever happened in my life has brought me to this moment.

Sometimes it may not feel like it or look like it, but there is a single thread in everything we experience, some may be self inflicted as the case may be, others may be circumstantial. In all, there is a purpose behind every pain.

So before you go on a rampage on how life is unfair to you and wonder why this may be happening to you or that happened in your family, remember that there are other people out there going through similar or worse situations, turn on the news channel and you will see that you have it easy (within the context of this post).

We tend to personalize our pain because rightfully we are the ones faced with the reality of dealing with it, so it is difficult to just take what someone else has to 'say' because you they are not the ones experiencing it, you  are feeling the pain  that may seem like it will never go away or worse case, the fear that you may never come out of it because of the intensity or the ripple effect it may have on your life, family or relationships.

The fear of Uncertainty

Life doesn't always give us what we want. In most cases, it takes us in the opposite direction of where we are trying to go.
The question is, what do you do when you're on a path you did not ask for and was not ready to tread?.

The thing with sudden and unexpected changes is, no body really wants to leave their comfort zone (even though we know that's where great things happen). We just don't want to stay out in an unfamiliar space for too long, and in the worst case, be dealing with an unfamiliar situation, in a particularly tough and  under unfamiliar circumstances.  I call it, "The fear of uncertainty".

NOT knowing what is going to happen next is a daunting place to be, especially if you like to KNOW  ahead of time and you are someone who likes to plan and be prepared for things so you know what moves you need to make to avoid unpleasant situations.
See, life is funny because nobody really knows what is going to happen next, we all live with the hope that it wont be us trying to survive what life throws out, in which often times are not very pleasant.

So everyone is walking around trying to dodge hardships and unplanned/unpleasant situations. When in fact these things are there to prune us.

To be thrown into an unexpected derailing situation in the middle of a thriving life or familiar process is HARD, You are forced to change EVERYTHING you knew and how you handle things.
There may (will be) a time of deep depression, you realize that it is at that point that you will MEET yourself for the first time. Who you are, what you are made of, what you believe in, who your true friends are and how strong your family ties really are. In other words, its a scary place to be!

The Purpose Driven Life

Who ever trusts in his riches will fail, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. - Proverbs 11vs 28

We were made for God, God was not made for us. Go back to your creator, find the purpose for which you were created. God is not just the starting point in our life, He is the source of it.
You may choose your career, your spouse, your hobbies and many other parts of your life, but you don't get to choose your purpose. Without God, Life makes no sense.

When you (begin your walk) are with God, it will leave many people confused and often very critical of your decision and actions; even fellow Christians may have an Opinion on how you should or shouldn't go about it.

The thing is, it is between you and God. Nobody else will quite understand why you're doing what you do, because to everyone, his/her journey is uniquely tied up to their purpose on earth. Some discover it early and in an orderly manner, others stumble upon it right in the middle of a chaotic situation and most are divinely led by sudden intervention by God that may be difficult for others to understand. How ever you find yours, it is not by mistake. God planned it that way.
