... Road to self discovery [ Part 1]

Growing up, I always wanted to sing. I sang everywhere; in the shower, at school, around the house... I joined the choir for god's sake. I knew i was going to be a singer, I was that confident. That was a few years ago...
Here's what happened...

Half way through numerous failed attempts to get a record deal ( I have lived in Lagos for more than 5 years). I discovered that having the gift of singing didn't necessarily mean I was going to become this international music sensation. I had written lyrics the size of a notebook, written some songs and sang them to myself, I did all I could given what i knew... and then it hit me. "Maybe my gift of music is for a specific purpose", " I thought to my self".

But what could it be? time has passed, I was getting older... Life happened somewhere in between and slowly i began drifting away from music. I still sing occasionally, when i'm not running errands or juggling a million things on my 'To do' list.

After a few years of " I need some working experience" jobs, 1 or 2 terrible bosses and a snail speed business venture, I began finding interest in talking to people about the struggles in life.

And there it was,  staring me right in the face. I was born to MOTIVATE, ENCOURAGE and INSPIRE others. This may sound a bit far fetched but it totally made sense to me.

With my gift of singing and writing and just generally being able to speak convincingly and from my heart, made it obvious.

"It is the little details that we ignore when faced with challenges, the lessons that we fail to see in every disappointment, the desire that keeps popping up in your head right in the middle of an executive office meeting, that quiet time you fantasize about what you're going to be in future, the goals you've set out for your self based on your passion, the items that keep making top 5 on your  " what am I good at?" List, the persistent compulsion to do something you've always wanted to do,despite not being equipped financially,".
You get my drift? That's the road to self discovery....

Have you ever tried to do something else, but you keep finding yourself doing another?

The one culprit of delay and lack of focus is when your major goal is to " Make Money", I'm not saying that its not good to aspire for wealth, i'm saying that when you find what you are passionate about and love to do... It is usually accompanied with Money. Because then, you will be doing it because you LOVE to do it and others will see your passion and dedication and will be compelled to know more about what you do and with God on your side,SUCCESS is yours!!!

P.S: Don't be afraid to make mistakes plus FEAR is a mirage never acknowledge it.

Yours truly,
:)

  2. I have a similar story .. while growing up as a kid ... I discovered I was a very creative person ... at first I wanted to be an engineer ...; but here comes the challenge wish field of engineering was meant for me ? ... I guess I didn't answer that question right either ... I choose to be a mechanical engineer ; I had always loved music; especially, playing of musical instruments... but I used to see it as an hobby ...along the journey of wanting to be a mechanical engineer , I discovered it was not meant for me due to so many factors; to cut the long story short ;...... here I am today a music produced and a sound engineer.

Overcoming the fight in your HEAD

This post may not resonate with everyone, though I pray it speaks to as many people that read it. I understand that we all have different understandings and believe systems. But! I believe this cuts across all that as this is a common denominator in our lives. This post may be 'deep' for some, and enlightening for others if you fall in the bracket of the former, it is my prayer that God will give you understanding in your heart as you read.

We are under ATTACK. No matter how blessed and successful we are, we are being attacked or about to be attacked. We are in a HEAD fight with the devil, We must attack him with what we "KNOW" . Your head will lead you where your heart will not take you. Your head is the center of your existence, how you relate to people around you and things in your life, so it is very important to protect your head.
The enemy is fighting you over the control of your mind (life), Everything that he does, every form of attack is a battle for contro…

The fear of Uncertainty

Life doesn't always give us what we want. In most cases, it takes us in the opposite direction of where we are trying to go.  The question is, what do you do when you're on a path you did not ask for and was not ready to tread?.
The thing with sudden and unexpected changes is, no body really wants to leave their comfort zone (even though we know that's where great things happen). We just don't want to stay out in an unfamiliar space for too long, and in the worst case, be dealing with an unfamiliar situation, in a particularly tough and  under unfamiliar circumstances.  I call it, "The fear of uncertainty".

NOT knowing what is going to happen next is a daunting place to be, especially if you like to KNOW  ahead of time and you are someone who likes to plan and be prepared for things so you know what moves you need to make to avoid unpleasant situations.  See, life is funny because nobody really knows what is going to happen next, we all live with the hope th…

The challenge to be "Grounded"

It takes some people longer than others to figure out what they are supposed to be doing with their life.
I know I write a lot about knowing who you are and what you were created to be. I believe this is very important as it is the root  for our existence. Once we discover why we are here and what we are supposed to be doing, every thing naturally flows on from there. So do not be overwhelmed by this, It is my hope that someone is blessed by one of my posts.
I am going to dive right in. I know a lot of people struggle with finding out who they truly are and what they are supposed to be doing with their life. So they jump from one thing to the other, leaving trails of unfinished projects, quitting before the business has time to grow, stranded ideas that began as a "great" idea and they end up thoroughly confused and frustrated. Which will often lead them back to repeat the cycle of Fresh start - excited about something new -New idea- Questions and frustration - Tired and fru…
